Why do Republicans believe such ridiculous propaganda?

I've seen people saying that Obama 'threatens liberty and freedom', or the stupid question about him being like Stalin and Hitler. I understand that his policies may not be popular with everyone, but why do people talk about him like he's the antichrist?!
