Archae and the Universe?

Archaebacteria are known to live in the harshest of environments (volcanic vents, salt lakes, hot springs, etc.). Because of this well known fact, could they possibly survive on an asteroid or possibly, even a star? If the answer is yes, wouldn't this support the fact that life came from somewhere else?
