Thesis, anti thesis, synthesis.....what does it all mean?

Those actually date back to a 5th Century BC Greek Religious leader named Pythagoras of Samos. The principle is that for any position, the "Thesis" there is an exact opposite, the "Antithesis". He believed that if you combined the two you arrived at a middle ground, the "Synthesis" which was more likely to be true than either extreme. If you think about it, you can find examples in any political argument, since most people think in terms of black and white, the Thesis and Antithesis, and ignore the all-important shades of gray, where the Synthesis is to be found. Hope that helps.
